Booksellers first opened its doors in Adelaide's colourful
West End in April 1984. In April 1999 we re-located to
our current premises at 107 Hindley Street Adelaide, where
we adjoin the West End Arts precinct. Proudly independent,
we are committed to offering an intelligent selection
of books for the discerning reader.
When
you step into our bookshop, you know you are in a place
where books, and the ideas contained therein, are respected
and valued.
Books
are central to our intellectual and recreational life.
They are the perfect portable 'virtual reality'. When
radio, cinema, television, video, talking books, the
internet and e-books arrived, people spoke of the death
of the book. Books, and the human relationship to them
will continue to survive and thrive. In the same way,
the arrival of internet bookshops and superstores are
supposed to spell the end of the independent bookshop.
Our customers value the cultural role played by independent
bookshops, and we believe that we are more than just
another retail shop!
In
an age where the individual risks being reduced solely
to a consuming entity, and books to merely products,
Imprints Booksellers stands for integrity, humanity,
celebration of diversity, strengthening community, attainment
of knowledge and the getting of wisdom.
